The destroyer Boadicea, Lt.Cdr.F.W. Hawkins, was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine off Portland, on June 13th, 1944. Nine officers, including Lt.Cdr. Hawkins and 166 ratings were killed and one officer wounded.
