Surface Marker Buoy Diver (SMB)

Surface Marker Buoy Diver (SMB)

Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs) and Delayed Surface Marker Buoys (DSMBs) are an essential piece of kit for UK sea diving and most Charter Boats will usually ask either individual divers or buddy pairs to carry and use one.

2 dives, 1 day

Those of you new to diving or who have learnt abroad may be unfamiliar with how to deploy one and use it safety and this course is designed to help you with that.

This two dive course will give you the opportunity to learn and practice how to put up different kinds of SMBs and DSMBs and how to use a reel whilst diving and ascending. By the end of the day you will go away confident that you are able to carry and use an SMB or DSMB.

This course ties in well with the Drift Diver Specialty as DSMB's are mandatory with most UK drift dives. Why not make a weekend of it and do both?
