Well what a season that was. Much better than the previous year and generally the visibility in the water was better too. Days that we have had to cancel due to weather could be counted on two hands so generally we are pretty pleased. The only real disappointment was that we had to cancel the charity dive twice but we will be re-scheduling this early in the new season so watch this space. Winter is now very much upon us but we w
ill be continuing to get out when we can. We cant really hope to get out to some of the good offshore stuff but we do get some calm days during the winter so you never know. We will plan for some of the better dives and if all else fails then we are happy to just bimble around Portland harbour. The Aqua hotel is doing an excellent deal throughout the Winter period. Two nights for the price of one and have the same cancellation policy. Basically book your diving and accommodation. Come Thursday afternoon and the weather is looking dodgy then we cancel the diving. Really you cant loose, if the weathers good we go, if not we don’t, simples! So what else is new.
The new walkway for starters. The old one has been a feature of Castletown for many years. Its always been on the list to get something a little bit easier and we have. The new one goes direct from the side of the car park straight on to the pontoon. It makes life so much easier. We have tested it on the highest spring tide of the season and although it does get quite steep its still very much easier and safer when lugging your dive kit on and off the boats. We have also put a handrail on to the side of the pontoon to help getting in and out of the rib. So what's the plan for 2010? Basically just to improve on what we already have. We have some excellent staff running excellent boats. We have made it a point of providing excellent customer service and lots of happy smiling faces around the car park says it all really. We still have much to do and certainly will not be sitting back. There are still wrecks out there still to visit and popular ones to go back to and have another look. The schedule for 2010 is already out for Cutlass and you can book away to your hearts content. The rib schedule will not be out until March and will generally run about a month ahead. This will hopefully give schools a chance to get there planning for next season sorted out. If you don’t see something on the schedule that you would like to do then call us and we will see if we can adjust the dive schedule. We look forward to seeing all the old faces and hopefully lots of new ones too.
All the best
Helena and Smudge
