“Athen is upright and complete although much of the decking has collapsed inward. Her triple expansion engine is visible. The coal block cargo is scattered about. These bear the words “Patent Cardiff ” and a crown. HAPAG crockery has been recovered from the wreck as has her stern dolphin binnacle and builders plate. Also one or two brass letters of her name have been found in the bow area. ”
