Salsette 44m

Date - 10/05/2026
Time - 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

Top of the Wreck: 36m       Sea bed depth: 44m

A favorite of experienced divers, the Salsette was torpedoed by the German submarine UB-40 on 20th July 1917. The ship sank with at least 14 hands and disappeared to the bottom in less than half an hour. Even today there are many fittings such as portholes still intact and one of its original propellers is still there. She was, and still is, owned by P&O and at the time of her sinking was delivering mail and stores between London and Bombay. The wreck naturally is home to many large fish and divers should be aware of discarded fishing lines.
